A Practical Guide to Collecting & Dating Vintage Paper

Why collect old paper? I hear this question a lot when I tell people that I'm interested in ephemera. For those unfamiliar, ephemera is commonly defined as transitory written and printed matter that was produced for short-term uses-not intended to be retained or preserved. Aside from ephemera being an interesting and often valuable collectible in its own right, it has several practical applications for everyday life, including:

1. Historical Research. Authors and historians use ephemera for deep research into companies, people, and products. And many genealogists find it to be indispensable in their work. Ephemera collections are housed at many universities, libraries, and museums specifically for its value in academic and scholarly research.

2. Decorative. People hang framed ephemera, such as vintage posters, advertisements, vernacular photography, lobby cards, etc., on the walls of their homes and offices. Collectible paper can be a conversation piece or the focal point of a room.

3. Artist's Raw Material. Many commercial and fine artists use ephemera as the principle source of raw material in their work. Several well-known collage artists, for instance, use old paper as a principle ingredient. Commercial artists sometimes use ephemera in print, broadcast, and outdoor advertising. Amateur artists use it to produce a variety of crafts, and scrapbook enthusiasts use ephemera to decorate the pages of their albums.

Of course, there are just as many or more whimsical reasons to collect ephemera: it may remind you of a past experience, occupation, or loved one; it may be collectible for its own sake (e.g., baseball cards, postcards, and stamps); or, it may add value or interest to an existing collection of other collectible objects.

Meeting Ian: New Moon Intentions At Work

I have an interesting tale to tell about the recent Leo New Moon seeds of intention which I planted at the exact moment of the Leo New Moon in conjunction with the Awaken Your Divine Feminine Soul eclass I'm teaching at the Wise Woman University. I also added a Lunar Meditation (thanks to Barbara Hand Clow) and a dreaming request plus shared my intentions with a live audience on The Reluctant Medium's Blog Talk Radio program.

My intentions were creatively Leonine: I wished for a smooth and productive month re-building and launching my new and improved website PLUS really wanted to add some interactivity to the mix ie. audio/video showing me live and in action: soul reading, working with crystals and hugging tress, but I didn't know where to start!

The day after my Leo New Moon wishes were publicly broadcast on the radio a young man sat down next to me at Barnes and Nobles bookstore with his Mac Book Pro laptop and asked me if I was wearing Moldavite; an odd question!

Moldavite was originally created when a large meteorite crashed into the Bohemian plateau of the Czech Republic, approximately 14.8 million years ago. It has many magickal, healing qualities relating to the heart and third eye chakra

Attending an Online School

The benefits are countless. Education is something that most people value because they know that having an advanced degree can make a significant difference in their lives. One of the most in-demand ways to acquire a good quality education is through online schools, which are available on the Internet.

One benefit of is that they can easily create worldwide connections and networks. Another benefit is the flexibility as virtual classes can be adjusted with preferred and most convenient times, especially if time is often a problem.

People nowadays are often on the go and this makes online school the perfect way to learn and obtain a degree. Even if they don't remain in one place they can easily access their online accounts and classes wherever they are, as long as they have access to a computer and an internet connection. This type of access makes lectures and assignments very convenient.

Financial hardship is another reason is preferred by many students. Education costs are soaring while the cost to costs less and is more affordable; for instance, sometimes E-books are inclusive of the tuition fee that one would have to pay. Another way to save is on commuting by not paying for transportations costs such as bus/train fares, gasoline and parking fees. Also, busy parents who want to won't have to worry about childcare because they can attend classes right in the comfort of their own home.

Genie In A Bottle - Your Universe in Pictures

Are there things in life that you have wanted but which have eluded you? Material things, physical attributes, human connections-that for one reason or another you've simply been unable to achieve?

My wife Angela and I made what I call a 'vision board' when we were looking for a new home. We wanted the house to be 4,000 square feet, near the water but not far from the mountains, on a certain amount of acreage, in the Pacific Northwest, and as a lark, because it's something my wife had always wanted, with a gazebo. So we got out the poster board, a glue stick, some magazines, crayons and colored pencils and set about collaging our dream house complete with water to the west, mountains to the east, and gazebo.

What happened? Less than six months later our Realtor showed us our dream house, down to the last detail.

I can almost hear the naysayers out there collectively negating the possibility of us manifesting our house with some art supplies and collage crafting. I am not here to turn anyone into a believer, I am simply here to pass on what has worked for me, what has worked for scores of my students, and inviting you to take it or leave it. My hope is that you'll take it.

For those of you on board, no doubt you're asking, 'How does this work?'

The Importance of Your Univerity Degree

University degrees portray different messages to different people at any given time. Many people don't value their university degree or may simple and clear they are just not sure of what that means in life. In this article, we are going to see how this degree is more valuable than college certificate.

The commonest odd of a university degree is the higher probability of higher earnings compared to the one of a certificate. Having a university degree do not necessarily guarantees you for a job but is a better security.

The experience one obtains on living at the campus is beyond comparison and most of collage certificate holders do not understand what this mean. A graduate from college and the one from university have totally different view of life to each other.

As the Financial Industry Becomes More Complex, Universities Respond with Targeted Degrees

With the rising power and importance of multinational corporations, the spread of globalization, and the increased interest among a large segment of the population for investment opportunities (much of it aimed toward retirement security), financial expertise is becoming more important in the workplace, particularly for mid- and upper-level management.

The vaunted MBAs of two decades ago provide information that is often too general to meet the needs of today's internationally oriented finance industry, and so colleges and universities have responded with more targeted degree programs. The programs cover financial theory and analysis, as well as team building and management skills, and are designed for practical application in the banking, investment, and insurance industries. The world of corporate financial decision making, which is geared toward maximizing company value and shareholder returns, is finding value in the new degree programs, as are governmental agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. These agencies, charged with making financial decisions and crafting policy, look for new hires who have a solid understanding of finance.
